UTFM Actor Casting Call 2025

Half a String is looking for an engaging actor/puppeteer for ‘Under the Frozen Moon’ (https://www.halfastring.co.uk/under-the-frozen-moon.html); it will be touring across the UK from Nov - end of Dec. This will be a mixture of studio theatres, schools and community halls. The role will be to perform in the show and also help with get ins and get outs, as well as leading simple puppet making workshops when required (all training will be provided for this).
Under the Frozen Moon is a heart-felt winter show from Half a String, created in 2022 and being redeveloped this year. In this heart-warming tale, a young girl sets out on a quest to confront the dragon under the ice who has hoarded all of the fires and lights for himself. With lively poetry, transforming sets, atmospheric live music and exciting puppetry; Under the Frozen Moon brings to life a beautiful world of ice and adventure. |

The Role:
We are looking for an engaging storyteller and strong puppeteer to take on one of the two roles in the show. This is a male presenting role which is a mixture of storytelling, puppetry, character acting and a small part of singing. A full DBS check will be carried out as part of the role.
Key Traits Needed:
• Male presenting.
• Playing Age: 23 - 45
Essential Skills:
• Engaging storyteller.
• Confident puppeteer.
• Strong physical performance skills
• Good character acting.
• Good team player.
Desired Skills:
• Good singing voice.
• Basic skills in a musical instrument.
• Touring experience.
• Experience working in family theatre or with children.

The rates are £601 p/week or £133 p/day when under 4 days in a row. + 12.07% Holiday pay and £30 p/day per diems.
